March: A month that exudes the softness of growing daylight hours and emerging spring. Just as the tender shoots breaking earth need nurture and protection, so do our emerging efforts.

Because if being tough is a survival skill, then being gentle is a thriving skill.

1. GentlerStreak

WHY WE LOVE IT

“A workout and fitness app for humans.

Gentler Streak stimulates a self-compassionate approach to exercise, where recovery is as important as intensity. Find your balance and fully embrace active life done your way.”

2. Japanese Rice Wax 15 min Meditation Candles

WHY WE LOVE IT

“Add some color in your home with these environmentally friendly candles, that have a perfect burn time for a short meditation break.

As the base is produced from rice wax and the wick with rush weed, the natural ingredients produce little to no smoke and wax drippage, making them perfect for indoor use. As they have a 15-minute burn interval, we recommend using it for meditation or to use it as a timer to sit back and relax during your day.”

4. Printernet

WHY WE LOVE IT

This is one I can’t wait to use as a surprise gift this year.

Printernet bills itself as “Your reading list, periodically shipped to you in a beautiful print issue. You choose what’s fit to print.” What that means is that you get to pick any article, essay, interview, recipe, blog post, or almost any text-based content for each of 5 slots.

I can’t wait to fill an issue with 5 excellent reads that I know will lift the spirits of my bestie on a crummy day!

5. North Woods: A Novel by Daniel Mason

WHY WE LOVE IT

This is a novel that I picked up on the last day of 2023, and still haven’t stopped thinking about.

A sweeping novel about a single house in the woods of New England, told through the lives of those who inhabit it across the centuries—“a time-spanning, genre-blurring work of storytelling magic” (The Washington Post) from the Pulitzer Prize finalist and author of The Piano Tuner and The Winter Soldier.

6. 2024 habitcalendar.co

WHY WE LOVE IT

This last one is a free printable that I know I will be returning to throughout the year, created by the web developer @izayats in Lviv, Ukraine.

This 2024 Habit Calendar printable can be customized all throughout the year with specific habits to track and the number of months – then turned into a single printable page. Magic, I say.
